In fact, Victoria currently has too much energy generating capacity. Hazelwood’s continued operation is preventing the construction of clean energy projects that are ready to go.

The Victorian government has committed to being a leader on climate change, and is about to release a Renewable Energy Action Plan which needs to transition our electricity supply from dirty coal to clean energy. These plans need to include working with ENGIE to phase out Hazelwood power station.

Write to Premier Andrews and Energy, Environment and Climate Change Minister Lily D’Ambrosio, asking the government to show leadership by phasing out Hazelwood.
