Act On Extinction

Act On Extinction

Extinction is forever... but it is not inevitable. We have the power to protect Victoria's unique threatened species and bring them back from the brink. But in Victoria we are not doing it.

The key law protecting threatened species in Victoria, the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act (1988) is ineffective and out of date. It's over 20 years old, doesn't account for the impacts of global warming, and being listed as 'Threatened' provides no guarantee that any action will be taken!

In 2014 the Andrews Government made an election promise to review the Act. Now, two years on, it's time to follow through.

Extinction is a very real possibility for more than 600 Victorian plant and animal species, but the Victorian laws protecting them are outdated and ineffective.

Please send your message to Victoria's Environment Minister, Lily D'Ambrosio, and urge her to  follow through with the promised review of the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act (1988).
